Great cast and content
As a professional in the energy industry these folks are my go to for the latest news. Quality content, guests, and discussion in the world of energy politics.
Thoughtful and thought-provoking
Love this podcast can’t wait to see what’s in store for this year as the election starts to heat up!
Good show
Smart hosts and guests
Much needed dialogue
In the age of tribalism and partisan cacophony, this show is a breath of fresh air delving into how differences in values leads us towards different policies. But more perhaps importantly, how we can see the best in the other side and bring about bipartisan solutions to the most challenging problems of today. My biggest complaint is that the show-runners seem to miss how Carbon Dividends changes the whole climate debate by reframing the solution from a burden to benefit for a vast majority of people (7/10 households, per a Treasury Dept study). It would be great if you delved deeper into this idea from various angles, especially since it’s universal property been described as a ‘libertarian socialist’ idea.
Love the show, but…
I love your show! I have to say that I was a little annoyed at Shane on the last episode. He doesn’t seem to understand a simple cause and effect. Children are angry and striking because those in power - especially Republicans but Democrats too (take NJ Governor Phil Murphy as an example) - are doing far too little to address climate change. The children shouldn’t be bitterly blamed, the cause of their anger should be addressed - adults are mortgaging their future. His comments (especially at the beginning of the episode) evoked my memories of those in the South who rejected the claims of civil rights leaders, and I think he will be ashamed of his comments in the future, as underneath it all it is clear that he is a thoughtful person.
An informative and needed podcast!
I wanted to learn about the climate crisis and how I can make changes in my life. I found the podcast to be very informative and helpful. I like that it presents multiple and different point of views on this issue. the discussion is civil, thought provoking and inclusive of everyone’s thought. Because at the end of the day, climate crisis doesn’t care if you’re a Democrat or a Republican. Keep up the good work!
Necessary conversation!
As a center right voter this is the information we need to hear! There is so much propaganda out there to wade through. This podcast is such a good source to hear both sides of current politics to guide opinions. Keep up the good work!
FRESH AIR!
This podcast is a breath of fresh air... and we NEED this sort of discussion to help move forward so that our descendents will have fresh air to breathe. Why can't the DC politicians show the bipartisanship that is so engagingly demonstrated by Brandon Hurlbut and Shane Skelton? Let's move forward! I'm a liberal so... Hurlbut for President! This podcast is a MUST LISTEN. ***** Five Stars.
Great Podcast
A great podcast with refreshingly cordial and productive dialogue on climate change. The podcast showcases perspective from both sides of the aisle very well. The topics are always engaging. Every week Shane, Brandon, and Julia marry informed dialogue with witty banter to both entertain and educate the listener. It’s like a well-informed, less emotional version of dinner table politics.I have only one criticism: as a moderator, Julia frequently leans a bit too far left, for me. As someone that leans left, I don’t find this to be too bothersome. I can only imagine that this political leaning, which is made evident in tone of voice & pushing back at co-hosts, makes it less palatable for anyone who leans to the right. All in all, this podcast is great. Much thanks to Julia, Brandon, and Shane!
Excellent
These folks do a fabulous job of creating bipartisan, civil, fun dialogue about this tremendously important issue. Keep it up!
Great Bipartisan Conversations
This podcast brings both sides of the aisle together over an issue that connects us all as humans! It is very nuanced in it’s approach, highlight the success and shortcomings of climate change policies. Excited for the next one and can’t wait for season 2!
I love this show!
Super interesting show that gives insight to many of the most intriguing questions of today; climate, politics, Democrats and Republicans. And it’s also fun! Highly recommended.
Bi-partisan Podcast
I’ve listened to this podcast for a few months now. It’s great to hear Shane’s views, although I don’t often agree. The dialogue is good and communication seems to be the only way we will effectively fight climate change. Shane, make sure some of your colleagues jump on climate solutions bill regardless of party. Thanks!
Refreshing multi-partisan take on climate policy
I’m also Canadian (seems like this podcast appeals to a lot of us north of the border?) but the civil discourse shared from all sides in this podcast is a BREATH OF FRESH AIR. Amazing way to see where climate policy fits on all sides of the spectrum, and help us understand each other a bit better. Keep it up! 👏🏻
Climate hawks need this
The US will not take the necessary massive action on climate change without building large political constituencies to support it. If we want to overcome the influence of small but powerful fossil fuel interests at the national and state and levels, we'll need Republican support. Climate hawks need to listen to people like Shane if they want traction.
Like the show, but...
I do occasionally have to just stop the show out of frustration at a very particular talking point that gets brought up nearly every episode. The Republican panel member ALWAYS drops a line about “why won’t climate voters just support the handful of GOP reps that support climate action if that’s their priority?” and he clearly thinks this is a real gotcha sound bite. Neither the host nor the Democrat member ever push back with the obvious follow up to that: Even if they did, would it result in a majority of the GOP caucus that supports taking up climate policy? (No) Is Mitch McConnell or whoever would replace Paul Ryan going to introduce climate bills without that caucus majority? (No) Is a Curbelo or whoever going to actually challenge leadership on bringing those bills to the floor? (No)Somebody on the show, I’m BEGGING you to bring up these obvious questions instead of talking about Trump and norms when explaining why climate voters overwhelmingly support Dems!
Gets at the heart of the issues
Engaging and balanced, timely and thoughtful — a great podcast that brings together (often) opposing sides and makes a complicated topic sound simple!
Bipartisan Climate discussion!
This is exactly what I had been looking for a reasonable Democrat and Republican talking about Climate Change! I can’t wait for their proposed solutions episode! I especially like the last segment, we can all find something nice to say about each other.
I really like this new GTM podcast. Five Stars!
I've always liked learning about the latest green technologies and what's happening in Washington and the states as far as policies, etc.. It's good to hear both sides of the debates. I think Julia is an excellent host. She has a really good radio voice and a fun, upbeat personality. She's good looking too. I've liked her ever since I heard her on the Energy Gang podcast.
Podlistener
Great pod! It is great to get insight from both sides of the political spectrum. In today’s day and age we must talk to each other if we want solutions. I am excited when this comes out each week!
This podcast is life changing!
Amazing podcast with smart and energetic hosts. Can’t wait for more!
Home run podcast!
Green tech media written content has been some of the most reliable in the sustainability industry, and I’m glad to have this podcast as a part of my weekly routine. I absolutely love Julia’s energy, knowledge, and her voice! Keep up the awesome content!!
Like the idea of dialogue
The republican podcast participant: With this podcast you now serve as a thought leader to republican base. Please use that responsibly. Will you want to be sensational or do you want to save the planet? I have just listened to first one so will see. have family members with degrees in atmospheric science and with research experience on methane emissions and glaciology. Our planet is in a very bad position if folks go by science and we need all hands on deck. Republicans fo things like co sign bills Hr 637 that try to overturn the EPA to regulate climate pollution. They block clean tech. In Texas the republican governor who says he believes in free market capitalism sided with his donor ( Friedkin net woth$4.1 billion) so that Tesla can’t sell cars directly. He favors control by gas combustion vehicle franchise members. I was born and raised Republican and am sick by their Bri f silenced by the Kochs. I was raised deeply Christians and shocked by Protestants silence.
Terrific!
In a time of increasing tribal political divisions a podcast with respectful, intellectual debate is such a breath of fresh air, thank you! Besides, really informative and entertaining!
