Co-Host and Producer

Julia Pyper is a co-host and producer of Political Climate. She is also an executive in clean energy financing and consultant for the non-profit GivePower. She is a selection committee member for the Zayed Sustainability Prize, which recognizes innovative energy solutions from around the world. Julia served five years as a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council's Global Energy Center and previously covered the global energy transition as a reporter and editor for Wood Mackenzie's Greentech Media and E&E News. Julia has covered clean energy and climate change issues across the U.S. and abroad, including in Haiti, Germany, Israel and the Maldives. Her work has been published in Scientific American, HuffPost and The New York Times.

BRANDON HURLBUT

Co-Host

Brandon Hurlbut is a co-host of Political Climate and co-founder and partner at Boundary Stone Partners, a clean energy advisory firm.  He previously served as Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary Steven Chu at the U.S. DOE.  Before joining the DOE, he was Deputy Director of Cabinet Affairs, serving as the President Obama’s liaison to the Departments of Agriculture, Transportation, Interior, Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency.  He held senior positions on Barack Obama’s first presidential campaign and practiced law at Baker & Daniels.

NEIL CHATTERJEE

Co-Host

Neil Chatterjee is a co-host of Political Climate and one of our nation's leading energy markets experts. He served as chairman and a member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and has decades of experience working on the most important energy policy initiatives for Republican leadership in Congress. He served as FERC chairman from August 2017 to December 2017, and again from October 2018 to November 2020. During his tenure as chairman, he promoted carbon pricing by advancing a groundbreaking bipartisan Commission policy statement encouraging power grid operators to incorporate state carbon pricing policies into their markets. He also pushed forward landmark energy market reforms to remove barriers to energy storage resources and other emerging technologies.
